She's not just a mom -- she's the consummate mother. Outgoing, solicitous, and an easy friend to all, she's passed on the best of her to her kids and now her grandkids. Nobody needs to worry about where my mom's loyalties are: they're with the family first.Born in 1926 in Long Beach, California, the daughter of William Ryan, a physician, and Elizabeth Bell Ryan, homemaker, my mom graduated from the University of Michigan in 1947. She met my dad at work in San Diego, dated him a year, and they married on June 10, 1950.She's worked for the Welfare Department and County Adoptions. She's a vigorous and vital lady, and she's the best grandma my kids (and my sister's kids) could hope for. Here's to you, mom. Thanks for the love and support, and for making our world a much better venue for our own lives.
